THIS DOCUMENT IS NO LONGER APPLICABLE SINCE TESCO WITHDRAW THEIR APPLICATION FOR PLANNING PERMISSION TO BUILD A NEW STORE ON THE SMITHS SITE. IT HAS BEEN INCLUDED HERE FOR HISTORIC INTEREST ONLY.

Please find below an email from the Tesco Action Group:-

The planning application for the Smiths site in the Harrow Way was validated on Monday 3 Nov.  Please go to the Basingstoke and Deane Planning portal to view the documents. http://planning.basingstoke.gov.uk/online-applications/

The application number is:  14/03334/FUL

The validation date was the week commencing 3rd November and the actual documents are a little tricky to find.

YOU HAVE UNTIL 2ND DECEMBER TO REGISTER YOUR OBJECTION.

I would suggest that you respond in them comments box AND email the Council your objection letters.

Don't be swayed by the housing - this is merely an outline permission for the housing that Tesco would sell on to a developer.  No developer I know would buy the site and nor would a Housing Association. This is just a means of getting the store back to the original size once no one buys it.

We are probably stuck on the traffic issues as these have been signed off by Hants CC, but I am not clear when the Camrose application is due to be heard  and obviously this would have an impact on capacity etc, if approved.

We need to understand Asda's position this time (they were against the application last time).

The more objections the Council receives, the more the local councillors will take notice - remember, there are Council elections in May and in the wards of Brighton Hill North and South, Grove and South Ham, every vote counts!

Please pass this email on to any of your friends and neighbours who are against the Tesco proposals.

Regards

Ruth – Tesco Action Group
