NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH UPDATES
:

CYCLES. -  Good news - but thefts continue.
Some arrests have been made for persons caught or associated with stealing cycles. The police will continue to keep this as a priority until the message gets through that this type of crime is not tolerated in our borough, and the thefts stop.

Please continue to keep your cycles properly secure at all times. Use good quality locks.

Other crime

In recent weeks, hedge trimmers, mowers and leaf blowers and similar items are being stolen from both secure and insecure sheds and garages.

Make sure all of your storage areas are properly secure as well as recording item details, serial numbers and taking a photograph. You can use Immobilise to record these items/details, including uploading the photos.

Be careful when recycling packaging so as not to advertise that you have new items.

Darker Evenings - be aware of Personal/Home security & don’t invite crime

You may wish to invest in an Automatic Timer for lights etc when you are not at home.

As we are now in winter 2014, it is essential that you make sure your personal security is appropriate. Make sure your doors, windows, garden gates, sheds & garages are all properly secured.

Be extra careful when out in the dark hours, especially if out alone. Be aware of your surroundings.

A final point, as we get near to Christmas, concerns about post left sticking out of letterboxes, items left on doorsteps and rubbish bins left out long after the collection has occurred. All of these items can signal a potential empty house to any passing criminal.

Make that call !!

When calling the police to ask to speak to an officer, please give your mobile number and email as well as landline telephone numbers. Also indicate the urgency if any, plus a preferred time or day to be called back. Remember that officers may be on other duties, on leave, rest days etc, so an officer other than a local one could call you back, but due to work pressures, there may be an unavoidable delay. 101 can get very busy, so you may wish to call at off peak times

If you have any comments or queries pls don't hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards
Kate
